PaperNavigator for Pulp and Paper
The Cutting Pattern Planning System
One of the great strengths of the system is that it is capable
of optimising both sheet and roll orders. Indeed, some paper machines allow
for a mixture of sheet and roll cutting plans to be input into the production
program at the same time.
In the course of cutting planning, the system is able to cut
together orders of different qualities if the quality parameter tolerances
overlap to the extent that the narrow cross section still gives a technologically
feasible cutting plan.
Of course, the program will only generate such combinations where
there are no other alternatives.
Given the right parameters, the system’s algorithm will utilize
only the absolutely necessary amount of raw material to realise the given task.
In order to achieve an optimal solution, the cutting plan is able to display
what quantity from which order is necessary to be produced in advance of the
originally scheduled production time.
Sheet cutting planning automatically takes into account the effect
of sheet sizes on cross-cut productivity indicators, and then accordingly tabulates
and switches orders.
The entire process of cutting planning requires just a few minutes
in the case of an entire weekend program to be constructed because the system
executes the cutting planning of all planned qualities in a single operation.
